British Orienteering membership
The benefits of being a member of British Orienteering include:

  • British Orienteering e-newsletters & option to sign up for e-newsletters about orienteering matters
  • Eligibility to compete in UK orienteering national and regional leagues, and inclusion in the national ranking scheme
  • Discounts from a wide range of national partners, eg Cotswold Outdoors, Up & Running (see BO website for full list)

There are 2 levels of British Orienteering membership:
Senior – any member aged 21 or older on 31 December 2020 - £15.00
Junior – any member aged 20 or younger on 31 December 2020 - £5.00
Membership runs from 1st January to 31st December. You can be a member of British Orienteering without being a member of an affiliated club. However, we encourage you to join Border Liners!

Non-members and Third Party Liability Insurance: As from 1st January 2020 non-members will be covered by British Orienteering Third Party Liability insurance for all activities/competitions, and the limit of 3 activities/competitions will no longer apply.

Border Liners membership
Border Liners Orienteering Club (BL) has been encouraging orienteers and orienteering in North & East Cumbria since 1969. BL members receive weekly email updates with club news, local and premier national fixtures and club training and coaching opportunities. Celebrating 50 years of orienteering in 2019, we are planning a range of 50th birthday celebration events and activities from Autumn 2019 through 2020.
Senior – £5.00
Junior – £1.00

The fees for Border Liners membership including British Orienteering for 2020 are therefore:
Senior member – £20.00
Junior member – £6.00

The easiest way to join Border Liners and British Orienteering is online via the British Orienteering website or by telephoning the British Orienteering National Office on 01629 583037, to join and pay by credit/debit card. You can also join by post by downloading the British Orienteering membership form (PDF) - complete and post it with a cheque payable to British Orienteering.

“Friend of BL” membership
This is available for anybody who is registered with British Orienteering through another Club, and for individuals who only wish to go to local events. To join or renew your membership as a Friend of BL for 2020, please send your details, including email address, and the BL membership fee (Senior £5 and Junior £1, cheque payable to Border Liners Orienteering Club) to Shirley Moss, 3 The Meadows, Cliburn, Penrith, CA10 3AH.
